PC or Mac? MacBook vs Sony C Series (VGN-C2S) Part 2

Carrying on from my my previous article about PC or Mac, I have decided to compare the MacBook versus a PC laptop. For this comparison I decided to choose another iconic design company, Sony. Like Apple, Sony are repeatedly chosen as one of top 3 most reliable laptops and again like Apple tend to innovate.

The closest Sony Laptop to the MacBook is the Sony C Series, which is supplied in a range of colours, as follows:
Green (VGN-C2S/G)
Grey (VGN-C2S/H)
Blue (VGN-C2S/L)
Pink (VGN-C2S/P)
Silver (VGN-C2S/W)
Black (VGN-C2Z/B) (NVIDIA® GeForce® rather than Intel® 950)
Just like the MacBook, the black model is the most expensive but it does include a better graphics card!!!
Overall the specifications between the two laptops are very similar, as shown below:

The two biggest differences are the processor (CPU) speed and the memory the graphics cards has. Here I would say the Apple has the advantage, with the extra graphics card RAM only been used if you where to connect a very large, expensive display to the laptop, something not expected of a lower end laptop like these.
The Apple MacBook has better networking with giga bit ethernet (not a huge use as 100Mb is fine for most situations but still nice) but the ability to work with the newer WiFi standard 802.11n is a nice future proof.
Both laptops are nice looking, well designed and built. The Apple again has the advantage by including the iSight video camera, which is great if you like video conferencing.

Windows Vista versus OS X
For me this is a no brainer, with OS X the clear winner from a ease of use perspective. But to be fair Vista is okay (I still prefer XP, simply as it is quicker and less complex looking). Of course with the new Intel MacBook and either Apple Boot-camp or Parallels you can run Windows XP or Vista, however with the Sony you can not (legally/easily) run OS X on it.
Pricing
The Sony is available from PC World for £799 inc VAT. The Apple MacBook starts at £699 inc VAT but the one I used in comparison to the Sony is £829 inc VAT.
Conclusion
I would recommend everyone to seriously consider the MacBook, it really is the best small, reasonable priced laptop on the market at the moment.
